Biography
Jamie Dyer serves as the Director of the Gulf Scholars Program at MSU, and also has various other academic and administrative roles related to environmental research and teaching along with academic program development. Dr. Dyer is a Professor of Meteorology in the Department of Geosciences, where he conducts research on topics involving hydrometeorology, surface hydrology, numerical weather prediction, and autonomous aerial systems. Additionally, Dr. Dyer is an Associate Director of the Northern Gulf Institute, a NOAA Cooperative Institute, and currently serves as the Interim Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies. In this latter role, Dr. Dyer is actively working to identify and build new academic programs – including a program in Gulf Coast Studies – that cross discipline boundaries to provide students with unique degree pathways that better prepare them to address critical societal issues.
